Examples of goal setting can be found everywhere in the Bible. Additionally, Proverbs warns us to be diligent rather than hasty in our planning and that plans fail for lack of counsel, but succeed with many advisers.
Unfortunately, most people don’t actually set or define goals. Instead, they wander through life directionless and in search of purpose and significance. As a result, most people struggle to achieve their definition of success – financially, educationally, physically, artistically, socially, etc.
As Benjamin Mays (minister, educator, scholar, and social activist) once said, “The tragedy of life doesn’t lie in not reaching your goal. The tragedy lies in having no goal to reach.”
